Field Trip - Desert Art

The desert proved to be amazing.  In the middle of the flat, dry, and rocky ground was an oasis filled with art against a majestic mountain background.  Seven Magic Mountains is a tourist attraction that we pulled off to visit.  We met a lady from England who said she was told that this was the "Stonehenge" of America.

We also took the opportunity to get up close to the Joshua Tree - Yucca brevifolia.  They were just starting to bloom.  The Joshua Tree grows only in the Mojave Desert and can live up to 150 years.

Besides looking at the tall pieces of stacked and colorful huge rocks, there was an area where others had started to build mini pieces of art using rocks from around the area.  We had fun engaging a few moments in this activity and building our own pieces of art.
